We are a new organization in Kansas, and an affiliate with the Kolbe Prison Ministries, based in Texas.   We are fellow parishioners, both men and women, who have a calling to reach out to those forgotten by society. Retreats such as ACTS, CRHP, and Cursillo challenged us to get involved. As our own faith grew, we looked to see where we could give back to those in need or less fortunate and abandoned by family, friends, and their faith.

The core leadership team for Kolbe in Kansas is very experienced in Catholic prison Ministry:

  • John Errante, OblSB.  John is an Oblate of St Benedict, and a dedicated servant in prison ministry in the diocese of Kansas City, Kansas for the past two decades. He remains active in the KS Mentoring4Success program, having mentored over two dozen individuals.

  • Craig Cummins, OblSB.  Craig is and Oblate of St. Benedict, the President, and State Coordinator for Kolbe Prison Ministries, and is also the Co-Director of the Prison Oblate Ministry, affiliated with St Benedict’s Abbey, in Atchison, Kansas. The Prison Oblate Ministry is a 20 year old effort by the Abbey to encourage men and women behind the wires to follow Benedictine Spirituality as embodied by The Rule of St Benedict.  Oblates find that Benedictine Spirituality as embodied in his Rule is a practical roadmap to salvation.

  • Rheinhold Olson, is a dedicated servant in the Kolbe Prison Ministry in Texas. He has family in Kansas and has agreed to offer several years of support to launching KPM in Kansas.

We live to help souls behind the wire to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, and to come to Christ Jesus.  Prisons can be a dark and terrifying place, and many prisoners find that for the first time they can hear His voice! Prisons can be place of violence, heartless cruelty, but it can also be a place of hope and love inspired by the Christian message!  It is a place of sinners, and sinners who have heard, and become Saints!

We accomplish this mission by holding Kolbe Prison Ministry three-day Catholic retreats in Kansas prisons.

Come and share the AGAPE Love of Jesus Christ with those in prison and to teach the fullness of the Catholic Church to the incarcerated.
